Transportation

Safety first and schedule second is a transportation safety rule included in all CDL school bus staff trainings. School bus runs are generally designed to limit the ride time a child will experience to no longer than approximately one hour.
If road construction or adverse weather conditions cause the bus to be longer than the scheduled time, then the CDL school bus drivers will travel at or below normal speeds to arrive at a destination safely.
Head Start does not transport students door to door due to the size and length of certain scheduled runs and the inability to safely drive larger school buses on certain roads.
Some students are provided centralized bus stop locations that are designed to reduce the bus run time and the length of time a child will be riding the school bus.
- How to change your child's bus stop:
- Notify the Transportation Coordinator at least 48 hours in advance of the change by phone or a note.
- Inform your child's teacher or bus driver that you are trying to make a change.
